1. Google docs has poor design capabilities for their documents; lots of fonts are missing and certain design options from Word aren't available
- Google docs is meant to share and edit information across groups of people; it is not, primarily, a publishing platform
2. Laptop screens are hard to look at in the day light; this discourages one from working outside
- Originally, computers were meant to stay stationary and inside
3. My closet shelves aren't useful; some shelves can be used for storage but for the most part, shelves require additional storage tacked on to them for clothes
- The shelves are cheaper and allow more flexibility in choosing storage options
4. There are limited options of cat products at pet shops; less toys, less information, less collars, and less food choices
- Owners often choose cats for their low maintenance. Therefore, they are not motivated to purchase items for them
5. My roommates dog rips through his toys almost immediately and leaves fluff all over the house
- The toys are made of soft cotton that when dampened by dog drool becomes easy to tear
6. Catnip toys don't entice cats as much
- Toys don't use the same concentrations of catnip or it is hampered by the material it's put into
7. Pizza boxes take up too much space in the garbage can
- The box has to be the size of the pizza in order to transport it

- They are constantly used to pick up kitchen spills and debris and are often left crumpled in the sink

- Keeping the umbrella in good condition requires you to take up space which is not often an option available (i.e. in a class room or small apartment)

12. At parties, either plastic is wasted or all the cups get used, leaving a mess
- Drinking is a central activity in parties
13. Moving the placement of wall decorations either wastes materials (adhesives that don't work after first use) or damages walls (tacks)
- Renting means that damage to walls can cost a deposit

- They are meant to have lots of interior space for plenty of storage
15. Women's clothes have inadequate pockets; we have to either carry an additional bag or keep our phones in our hands
- The clothes are tighter and items placed in pockets appear bulkier
16. Men's clothing tends to have less color, less patterns, and less potential accessories readily available
- Muted tones are easier to combine which means they don't have to focus on clothes matching
17. Blinds don't completely block out light and they tend to detach
- They are cheaper to produce and install than better options
18. Cleaning supplies make a lot of garbage; there are a lot of bottles and packaging that has to constantly be purchased
- There aren't good options for refilling house cleaning supplies in super markets and grocery stores
19. Window sills are way too small to place plant boxes
- Sills are not designed for plant boxes
20. Taking pen and paper notes in spiral notebooks means there is no place to store handouts
- Handouts are usually printed which means that the pages are larger than the notebook itself, making them stick out and get crumpled inside a backpack
The challenge was relatively easy. Working through my daily schedule and reflecting on things that posed an inconvenience was the first step. Then I observed what other problems arose in the course of the week and jotted them down. It was more challenging to determine they "why". Some of the reasoning seemed silly or simple but it was still the primary cause.
Hello Ana,
ReplyDeleteAfter reading your bug list, I agreed to so many bugs. I recently bought a new computer and the screen is glass, so it reflects much in the sun. Also, a few bugs I couldn’t relate to, but if I was in your situation like your roommate’s dog putting the cotton from the destroyed toys everywhere, it would bother me too. Recently, I have bought a new plant and it doesn’t fit on the windowsill. It does seem like the windowsills are too small for plants, so I understand why it is a bug.
Hello Ana,
ReplyDeleteFor your hole in the wall situation it is actually quite easy to patch holes after taking down wall decor. Trust me my fiancé loves for me to hang things up and then decides she wants to move them somewhere else later on. You can go to Walmart and get the supplies. All you need is some spackling putty and a spackle putty knife. After spackling the spot you can paint over it.
